The Voice

One of the glories of singing is that each voice is utterly unique. And yet, as I have learned, part of our perception of sound is influenced by sight, the visual aspect of the performer. Thus any recording is only half of the story, and the performer’s challenge is to get as much colour and character and emotion as possible into the ‘half’ the listener hears.
